Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of ContactStar. Last updated 3 August 2026.
1. Scope and parties
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ContactStar (the “Service”), a web application that helps a person find professionals who offer a service they need, send each of them a personal inquiry by email, and keep track of who has been asked. The Service is provided by the operator named in our Impressum (“we”, “us”, “ContactStar”).
We provide the Service; Link sells it to you. Sold through Link, LLC acts as our merchant of record — the seller of the inquiry unlock in its own name, invoicing you for it under its own tax registration (see section 6). Link is therefore the seller for the purchase itself, while these Terms govern how you may use the Service we operate.
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. The Service
ContactStar lets you describe the kind of professional you are looking for (for example “therapists in Berlin”), uses AI to suggest a shortlist of matching practices, helps you draft a personal inquiry to each of them from a template you control, and — only after your explicit approval — sends those inquiries on your behalf. You review and curate the shortlist and read every message before anything is sent.
A single round of this — one shortlist, one message, one send — is called an inquiry in these Terms, and is the unit that is unlocked and paid for under section 6. It appears as a “inquiry” in the application interface; the two words mean the same thing.
ContactStar is a tool for individual, personal inquiries. It is not a marketing, advertising, sales-prospecting or lead-generation service, it does not sell, licence, enrich or otherwise make available contact data or marketing lists, and it provides no facility to export, download or transfer the contact details it surfaces. A shortlist exists only inside the inquiry it was created for and only for the account that created it. Section 4 states what this means for you as a user.
The Service relies on AI and third-party data sources. Suggestions and drafted text may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate, and we do not guarantee that any recipient is reachable, suitable, or will respond. You are responsible for reviewing the shortlist and all content before sending.
3. Your account
To use the Service you must register an account with a valid email address. You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may delete your account and your data at any time (see section 11 and our Privacy Policy).
4. Acceptable use and your responsibilities
Emails you send through ContactStar are sent on your behalf and under your responsibility. When you use the Service you agree that:
- you have a legitimate reason to contact each recipient you choose, and you will use the Service only to make genuine, individual inquiries about a service that recipient offers, relating to your own needs — in the ordinary case, as a prospective patient, client, student or customer writing to an address the recipient publishes for that purpose;
- you will not use the Service for advertising, marketing, sales prospecting, lead generation, recruitment inquiries, fundraising or political messaging, nor to send unsolicited bulk email or spam, nor any unlawful, misleading, defamatory, harassing, or infringing content;
- you will not extract, copy, scrape, resell, publish, or transfer to any third party the contact details the Service surfaces, nor use them for any purpose other than your own inquiry — they are provided to you for that inquiry alone;
- you will comply with all applicable laws when contacting recipients, including data protection law (GDPR / BDSG) and the rules against unfair commercial practices and unsolicited advertising (UWG); where those laws require it, you are responsible for having a lawful basis or consent to contact a recipient;
- you will not attempt to circumvent the Service’s usage limits, access controls, or payment mechanisms, or use the Service in a way that harms its integrity or other users.
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if we reasonably believe it is being used in breach of these Terms or applicable law.
5. AI-generated content
ContactStar uses AI to suggest contacts and to draft emails from your template. AI output is provided as a starting point and is always shown to you for review — no email is sent without your explicit approval. You remain responsible for the final content of every message you send and for the decision to contact any recipient.
6. Pricing and payment
ContactStar is offered on a pay-per-inquiry basis. Unlocking an inquiry is a single one-time payment — there is no subscription and no recurring charge. The final amount payable for your country is shown to you at checkout before you confirm the purchase.
The purchase is made from Sold through Link, LLC, which acts as our merchant of record: the seller of the inquiry unlock in its own name, invoicing you for it under its own tax registration. The purchase contract is therefore concluded between you and Link, and Link is responsible for the checkout, the payment transaction, the applicable sales tax / VAT, invoicing, payment disputes, refunds, transaction-level payment support and the consumer-law duties attaching to the sale — including your statutory right of withdrawal. Your purchase is governed by the Link buyer terms, which you accept at checkout. You enter your payment details directly into Link’s checkout; we never receive or store them, and your card statement will show Sold through Link.
What an unlock buys is the ability to sendthat one inquiry. It also lifts that inquiry's allowances and shows you the remainder of its shortlist, which is shown only in part beforehand so that you can judge the quality of the suggestions before paying. The following limits apply and are enforced by the Service:
- Limits apply per inquiry. An unpaid inquiry includes 2 searches and 3 AI-drafted messages, and displays 2 of the suggestions in full; the remainder are hidden and nothing can be sent.
- An unlocked inquiry includes 5 searches and 10 AI-drafted messages, shows the remainder of the shortlist, and enables sending.
- An inquiry retains at most 25 suggested recipients (the oldest are dropped beyond that) and at most 5 you add yourself — so a single send reaches at most 30 recipients.
- You may hold one unpaid inquiry at a time, and each account may create at most 5 inquiries in total over the lifetime of the account, whether paid or not. Deleting an inquiry does not restore a slot.
- As a safeguard against repeat contact, a recipient you have already emailed from another of your inquiries within the last 7 days is excluded from a send.
We may change these limits for future inquiries; the limits in force when you unlock an inquiry apply to that inquiry.
7. Right of withdrawal and immediate performance
As a consumer you generally have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for contracts concluded at a distance. Because Link is the seller of the unlock (section 6), that right runs against Link and is governed by the Link buyer terms.
Unlocking an inquiry gives you immediate access to digital content and functionality, so the 14-day right ends once the inquiry has been unlocked where you agreed at Link’s checkout that it be made available to you straight away. That agreement is governed by the buyer terms linked above, which Link presents at its checkout; we do not ask for it separately, and no step inside ContactStar waives anything.
Full details, including how to exercise the right and our goodwill refund practice, are set out in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
8. Availability and changes to the Service
We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service, and we may update these Terms, where there is a valid reason to do so (for example legal changes, security, or improvements). We will not change the essential characteristics of an inquiry you have already paid for to your disadvantage.
9. Liability
We are liable without limitation for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health, and for damages caused by intent or gross negligence.
For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation (an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely), and in that case only for the foreseeable, contract-typical damage.
Beyond that our liability is excluded. In particular, we are not responsible for the conduct, responses, or non-responses of the recipients you choose to contact, nor for consequences arising from content you decide to send. The above limitations do not affect any mandatory statutory liability (for example under the Product Liability Act).
10. Term and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for a serious or repeated breach of these Terms or applicable law. Deleting an inquiry or your account does not entitle you to a refund of a completed one-time payment, except as described in our Cancellation & Refund Policy or where required by law.
11. Data protection
How we handle personal data — yours and that of the contacts you process through the Service — is described in our Privacy Policy. You can request access to, or deletion of, your data at any time by emailing hello@contactstar.app.
12. Governing law, jurisdiction and dispute resolution
These Terms and any contract concluded under them are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you additionally enjoy the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle) within the meaning of the German Consumer Dispute Resolution Act (VSBG).
